A WW2 Unit History by Lt. Robert "Bud" Flynn of the 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division From Normandy to the Ardennes August '44-March '45
21.2.12
October Footnote 1: "Rotgen"
"The division moved into the line east of Rotgen to take over from
the U.S. 9th Infantry Division on the 26th of October. It was an
unhappy experience. The 9th had had a hard time and showed it. The
troops were unkempt, dirty, unshaven, and unutterably weary. Above all
they showed signs of prolonged strain, dull-eyed, morose, nervous. They
had been badly shaken." R. W. Thompson, The Battle for the Rhineland, 35
